Johnny Richards Orchestra – Kiss Her Goodbye

$14.99

During the summer of 1958, Johnny Richards (ne Juan Cascales) recorded his original jazz soundtrack for the film Kiss Her Goodbye. For budgetary reasons the movie was shot in Cuba – and along came Fidel Castro who confiscated it. Therefore, no soundtrack recording was ever released and it has remained the Holy Grail of Johnny Richards’ oeuvre. Here it is, recorded with Richards’ working big band featuring Jimmy Cleveland, Phil Woods, Ray Copeland, and Charlie Persip. Rounding out the program are two Birdland broadcasts from 1959, and a The Moon Was Yellow “hidden” in an LP ironically titled A Holiday In Cuba – nearly 80 minutes of unissued Johnny Richards!! Uptown Records Flashback Series |  2011 77:39
